Gillette Castle

On Saturday we left the boys with my parents and headed to Connecticut for the weekend for our friend's wedding.

Sunday morning we had some time to kill so we went to Gillette Castle. Tiffany light on the ceiling in the entrance.

The wooden mechanisms for the windows.

Workshop.

One of the many interesting light switches throughout the place.

Another wooden mechanism to hold the door open.

The Living Room. In the living room above the doors is a set of mirrors, the mirrors were so he could stand on the balcony and watch what was going on in other parts of the house.

Fire place in the living room.

Some door on the cabinet in the dining room. The bar.

One of 47 doors in the castle, no 2 doors are alike.
Another one of the light switches.

Another Tiffany light.
The backside of the castle.

The stone awnings over the windows.

View from the back deck of the castle.

The station for the railroad he had on his property.
John and I had a great time walking around the castle, if we had more time we probably would have strolled the grounds too. If you are ever up in Hartford, CT area, I recommend the 45 min or so drive to check this castle out, very very cool. I honestly would like to go back for a second look, because I'm sure we missed a million things.
