Our drive...

I fed the boys at 1 a little less so that at 4:30 I could feed them early and get a full feeding in. It worked great. We were out of the house by 5:30. For some reason the first part of our trip seemed to take forever.

Luke let us know at about 8 that it was close to time to stop, he was hungry and screaming. We stopped at a rest stop at 8:15, changed diapers including one sticky one (thanks John) and fed the boys and let their tummies settle a little before hitting the road again at 9:45. The second part of the trip seemed to go by faster.

Luke started to get fussy around 11, we think he was sick of being in the car seat (who can blame him). We stopped to calm him down, only he was all smiles and giggles so after we each hit up the restroom and got a milkshake, we were back on the road. Only for Luke to begin screaming again...20 miles down the road and the next rest area (thank god for the turnpike's many rest areas) And we changed diapers and held the boys for a few minutes.
Then it was back to the road.

I started to get really tired and was having a very hard time staying awake. The night before was long with the boys and I let John sleep so one of us would be well rested for the drive. I ended up nodding off and waking up and kept apologizing to John who said it was fine. About 10 minutes before getting off the interstate, Luke got cranky again, more so because we were stuck in slow construction traffic, he likes it when Daddy goes like a speedracer.

Once off the interstate, John stopped to fuel up and use the facilities and wake up a bit...he was tired but insisted he could finish out the drive. Not sure why we stuffed everything into the car like a can of sardines if he was just going to drive the whole way anyways. Luke was fussy, I consoled him, he just smiled and giggled at me, but once we were going again and he couldn't see us he wasn't happy.

We continued our journey on and Luke cried off and on the whole way there, by now it was 2 and while at night they normally go 6 hours which would be 2:30, I think Luke was probably ready to eat at 1:30, but we were so close to home, he was going to wait.

We pulled up to the farm about 2:15, got the boys fed while my father in law unpacked the car (thank you!) and then he and John took everything upstairs. Set up the pack n play, the boys smiled away at grandpa, and we were all asleep by 3:15. The boys slept great together in the pack n play...what is it about their cribs at home. Actually Luke is the only one who has a sleeping problem.

Luke woke up at 6:30 hungry, but I was so tired I couldn't function and convinced him that we both needed more sleep, we slept until 7:30 when John woke up because his little tummy said it was time to eat. Ironically Luke was now dead to the world, but he still ate.

So recap of the trip: little John slept the whole entire way except to be awake to eat, even slept through 2nd diaper change. Luke was not as happy of a camper with sleeping the whole way.
John drove the whole way, while I just was in the passenger seat. I was just company haha!
We left at 5:30 pm and pulled in at 2:15, for those of you counting that's almost 9 hours, a drive that before babies took us 7 (while pregnant) and 6 before that.

I can't wait to move back out here!
